We dispose of all waste in the most environment friendly methods available in each area we serve. We transport all residential trash to a resource recovery center where it is turned into fuel to generate electricity. We do not add to the heaping mounds of garbage in landfills. We focus on your needs, not maintaining a landfill. Locally owned. Aspen is owned and operated by people who live here. Decisions are made locally and we reinvest in your communities. Profits are not shipped to other states – or countries! Clean collection. Garbage collection and disposal is a necessity in our society, but it doesn’t have to be unsightly. Residential Services. We provide weekly trash collection to many communities in the Twin Cities. We also provide yard waste service and pickup of extra, larger items when requested. Compostable yard waste bags are required for yard waste pickup. Read more Compostable bags are required for yard waste pickup Effective January 1, 2010, customers who bag their yard waste must use compostable bags. A new law forbids the use of conventional plastic bags for yard trimmings collected in the Twin Cities area. Approved bags must be either paper or biodegradable, compostable plastic bags that meet ASTM D6400 specifications. The new law affects residents in the counties of Anoka, Carver, Hennepin (excluding the City of Minneapolis), Ramsey, Scott, and Washington. Your yard waste must be bagged in a compostable bag, or Aspen will not be allowed to pick it up. The new compostable bags are clear, green tinted, or white. They are made from biodegradable plastic that will break down in a composting site (regular plastic yard bags do not). The bags can be purchased at home improvement, grocery and retail stores. Look for bags that meet the ASTM Standard Specification for Compostable Plastics (D6400). Aspen also allows you to rent a wheeled Yard Waste Cart. Call 612-884-8008 for details.
